Clogs for Men-The Most Popular and Versatile Footwear for the Modern Man

In the fashion industry, change is the only constant as fashion trends last for only a fleeting time to be replaced by newer styles.

It is thus not surprising to find vintage fashion making a comeback and that too with a bang. The retro styles of the ‘70s is not just limited to flared pants and bell-sleeved tops and dresses for women; men too are exploring and experimenting with the retro style directory- one of the biggest trends of those times happens to be clogs for men.

One of the biggest reasons why people are so drawn towards the best of trends of years which have gone by is that they combine the best features of those times with what is available today. The result is a fusion of the best of both worlds giving rise to a product which is not just highly functional but aesthetically pleasing as well. It is because of such reasons that clogs for men have once again found their place in contemporary fashion.

Today, there are a number of styles and options available in the market to cater to the varied tastes of people, worldwide.

Of the designs available in clogs for men, clogs boots, clog sandals and heeled clogs are considered to be the most popular.

Clog Sandals

Clog sandals are one of the most popular footwear for men and their popularity arises due to their comfort, which allows them to be worn all year round, even during summers. They complement any kind of outfit, whether it is casuals or formals.

Their bottoms are usually made of wood, but at times, they can be made of rubber as well, depending on the preference of the wearer.

Clog Boots

The challenge, however, lies in choosing the right pair of clogs for men, which can be made easy by taking the season into consideration. If clog sandals are for summers, then clog boots provide the same level of comfort in winters.

Like clog sandals, clog boots too are available in a wide variety of designs. Clog boots for men also have wooden heels. Some of the most commonly used upper materials include canvas, suede or leather.

Heeled Clogs

These are clogs for men which are a must-have for every fashion-conscious buyer’s shoe rack. They are highly sought after because they serve as an amazing alternative to the other footwear with heels. There are quite a few men who dread the idea of wearing heeled shoes but would still like to add a few inches to their frame.

For such individuals, heeled clogs provide the best answer as they can be worn the entire day, without the slightest discomfort and the overly conspicuous heel.

Reasons for the Return of Swedish Clog Sandals

Swedish clog sandals are once again making a foray into the world of fashion. They were last seen in the 70’s, but have once again started to make waves all over the world.

Clogs originated in Holland, sometime in the 19th century and were used mainly by the peasants.
These days, however, Swedish clog sandals are worn by the ‘who’s-who’ of the fashion world.
Being worn by the models in fashion shows and by the elite, clogs have become a much sought-after item.

The earliest variants were carved out of wood. These days, however, Swedish clog sandals make less use of wood, and instead, utilize other materials which make them more comfortable and stylish.
Some of the common materials used include flexible plastics, leather, and suede.

The use of such materials does not in any way undermine the durability of these shoes, which continues to be the same as before.

The only aspect which has changed happens to be the look; this change has been made to make these clogs more suited for the modern-day wearer

Swedish clog sandals today come in a lot more variety as compared to what was available earlier. As a result, clog sandals are available in a number of designs and colors to appeal to the tastes and preferences of every individual.

These clog sandals prove to be a boon for women who have to stand on their feet for long hours. The best example for this are nurses, for whom, these clogs prove to be the best recourse when it comes to combining style with functionality.

Thus, if you also happen to be one of those professionals who have to be up and running all day, Swedish clog sandals, with rubber soles can prove to be beneficial as the rubber acts as a shock absorber and provides unmatched levels of comfort.

My First Experience with Clogs for Women

I had seen my friends wear clogs, but I had never bought a pair for myself.
It was not like I disliked them; I just didn’t think they could possibly match the level of comfort provided by my trusty leather heels. And I have a penchant to buy things only when I need them.

Last year, I went on a holiday to England with my friends. One of the cities we visited was Manchester, a city famous for heavy rainfall. I had packed multiple sets of clothes, accessories and shoes for our 5 day trip.

On our second day, when we took to the streets of Manchester, I didn’t realize it had rained heavily the night before and wore my leather heels. Needless to say, the shoes were fully drenched due to the water on the streets.

Thankfully, I had two extra pairs, but neither of them were water-resistant. I didn’t want to ruin any of them as the rains showed no signs of stopping anytime soon. My friends didn’t have to go through the same ordeal as me as they had brought their clogs for the trip. The clogs that my friends wore had a wooden base that was water-resistant, which allowed them to move around freely irrespective of the weather.

I decided it was the right time to get a pair of clogs for myself.

We went to a shopping district in lower Manchester to look for clogs. I was not even sure if they sold clogs in England.
One of my friends finally found us a retro-looking shoe store.

Thankfully, the store had a good collection of clogs for women.

As there were a lot of designs and colors to choose from, we spent nearly an hour in there.
Even my friends bought a pair each.

After coming back from our trip, I added a few more pairs of clogs to my collection of shoes, each with a different color to match my outfits.

Why Clog Boots are my Best Investment Till Date

I can easily be termed as a person with an eclectic taste in fashion purely on the basis of the choices I make when I am out for shopping. It is a proven fact that, the way you dress up can increase or decrease your confidence level. I manage to turn heads and gather compliments every time I walk out of my house and this makes me feel confident.

There are limitations with outfits when you don’t have that perfect hourglass figure. But I strongly believe that the footwear you adorn along with the outfits can make or break your look. Hence, I spend more time and money in the footwear section of the stores; in other words, I spend a lot on shoes.

This time, when I went out for shoe shopping, I wanted to buy something that was classy, casual and eclectic at the same time. The search went on for hours until I landed up in the boots section and a particular pair of tan clog boots caught my eye.

I tried them on, and believe me when I say that it was the most comfortable pair of footwear I had ever stepped into. The wooden sole, contrary to popular belief, made the clog boots lightweight.

As the fashion world harps on about how clogs are the best shoes to work upon your posture, I wanted to try a pair. Needless to say, over a period of time, I did see a change in my posture and alignment.

Clog Boots are generally misconstrued as stereotypical footwear that restrict the kind of outfits you can pair them with. But the tried and tested truth is that they can be worn with almost any outfit you can imagine, as long as you know how to carry it off.

This is why I believe that clog boots are one of my best investments and I would willingly recommend them to others.

Benefits of Wearing Wooden Clog Sandals

Today, there are a number of shoes available to spoil the buyer, but do you know about the one which has taken the world by storm?

These are - wooden clog sandals.

What makes them special is the presence of wooden soles which adds that extra chic factor to these clog sandals. Today these wooden clog sandals are offered by a number of top footwear brands. They are available in a variety of designs and colors to appeal to the choosiest of customers and are quite pocket-friendly too.

For the uninitiated, it needs to be understood that wooden clog sandals are not something new. They have been around for a long time. It’s just that their popularity had its good and bad days. They were usually used by factory workers, mine laborers and nurses who used to work for long hours. As individuals of these professions had to be on their feet almost the entire day, the wooden soles provided great comfort and support. They also provided excellent grip.

Wooden clogs sandals also have a number of orthopedic benefits, some of which are as follows:

They provide the wearer a better posture. Whenever you wear a pair of wooden clog sandals, you’ll realize that you always stand straight.  In fact, the next time you visit your orthopedist, check the shoes he/she is wearing. In most of the cases, chances are your doctor will be wearing clogs.

Wooden clog sandals provide great back support. If the nature of your job is such that you need to be on your feet all day long, then most probably you must have experienced some sort of pain in your lower back. The pain in the lower back is related to your feet and stance. If you don’t wear the right kind of shoes, you will end up with a chronic back pain. However, this can be eliminated with wooden clog sandals, as on wearing them, your lower back receives the support it needs.

They help in aligning the spine. Yes, you read that right. This is because of the intricate structure of clogs. The hard wooden soles of clogs gives your body the support it needs, which leads to the alignment of your spine.

Handy Tips for Taking Care of Your Wooden Clogs

Wooden clogs are one in all the best styles of shoes in existence. They’re durable, they're beautiful, they're comfortable and they simply go in conjunction with any kind of dress. I do know a lot of ladies who are yearning to own a closet full of only one form of footwear – wooden clogs. This may come as no surprise, but women love their clogs. And envy others’.  Nothing else in this world feels nearly as good as slipping your feet inside a gorgeous pair of wooden clogs.

Women are hooked in to their wooden clog sandals, and wear them to every occasion. And although clogs are one among the sturdiest shoes ever, they may still need a little care every now and then. And that’s not too much to ask for, considering that the lives of so many women revolve around their clogs. Therefore in order to prolong the lifetime of your wooden clogs you need to take care of them. This process can be ugly but the results would be even prettier than the shoes themselves.

Avoid contact with water – Water doesn’t harm the functionality of the wooden clog sandals. However, it's not very preferable to go out in rain with your wooden clogs on. Don’t, just don’t let your wooden clogs get in contact with raindrops. Water doesn’t affect the shoes promptly. However with constant exposure to that, wooden clogs can stretch out that makes them slightly uncomfortable.

Let them dry – notwithstanding your wooden clog sandals do get wet, don’t place them in direct daylight. Simply allow them to dry slowly and naturally, otherwise you run the chance of cracking the wood.

Use sandpapers – If you notice the inevitable scuffs on your wooden clog sandals, do not, I repeat do not clean them water. Use sandpapers instead. Sand papers work like magic on wooden clogs and can remove dirt very easily.

Use olive oil – you can use a spoonful of olive oil so as to make your shoes moisture-resistant and repel the dirt. Use a towel to scrub off the shoes. This is often also useful for maintaining the shine of wooden clogs.

Wooden clog sandals are still shoes. And it’s only natural for them to get dirty and wear out. But if you want them to last long, don’t wear them every single day. I know that's a little tough when they look so beautiful.

The Never Ending Charm of Wooden Swedish Clogs

Whenever we hear the name Wooden Swedish Clogs, the first thing that crops up in our minds are the Dutch wooden footwear. This happens despite the fact that there are a number of different options available when it comes to wooden clogs. Nowadays, a clog is branded as any shoe which has a wooden sole but that is not the truth because there is more to wooden clogs than just wooden soles.

The Comeback

Despite the major upheavals in the fashion industry in recent times, it seems that clogs are making a comeback and that too in style. This is because they never went out of trend completely. The reason why wooden swedish clogs became the most popular versions of the clogs is because of their design which is so enticing and easy to wear too. The 70’s and the 80’s saw them rise to the heights of success but then it did not last long and post the 80’s they only remained popular amongst the fanboys.

Causes of their Resurgence

The change came in the Parish Fashion Week of 2010 when both Louis Vuitton and Chanel showcased clogs. Since being showcased at the fashion week, clogs have been featured in a lot of fashion shows and young people wearing them around on a regular basis, although it has been observed that they are more popular with people who have never even seen them before and this explains why they are so fond of them

The TV is greatly responsible for the emergence of clogs. For instance, in the UK, the show Strictly Come Dancing not only brought back clogs in fashion, it was also responsible for getting back ballroom dancing, in which the dancers tapped on their clogs when dancing. As a result a lot of workshops and private classes have mushroomed all over the country as more and more number of people get attracted not just to this dance form but toward the clogs as well.

Thus, since the beginning of the new millennia, clogs are enjoying not just a revival of sorts, their numbers be it with respect to their sales or their fan following is rising exponentially as well.

Practical and Fashionable Style Guide for Men’s Shoes

Men’s fashion has been grabbing eyeballs globally with the new and old styles that are transforming into mainstream trends as men are becoming more fashion-forward. In their endeavor to become more stylish, a lot of men end up wearing the wrong pair of trousers or shoes.

Men’s footwear has been scrutinized by the fashion police as it is very easy to go wrong with their shoes. On one hand, there is the style factor and on the other, there is comfort, both of which have to be borne in mind. We all know that comfortable shoes are a little towards the uglier side (unfortunately), whereas those stylish shoes kill your feet when worn for a few hours. How do we find the perfect balance of style and comfort and where?

Do not lose hope as we are here to guide you to the best shoes for men. We will also educate you on the basic features of a great pair of men’s shoes. So let’s get started.

•  The basic idea is to be comfortable, which will reflect as confidence in the way you carry yourself. If the tapered end of your favorite shoes squeeze the life out of you, then just ditch them and take to something much more comfortable with ample toe room like men’s wooden clogs.

•  Always keep in mind the toe spring, which is the space between the toes and the ground. Ideally, the toe spring should be enough to fit in a pencil, right beneath the toe. The toe spring lets you move forward naturally in the process of walking by projecting the feet forward for the next step. It is very important for the pronation of the feet.

• Most shoemakers disregard toe spring and make completely flat, razor sharp shoes that look good but prolonged wear can cause plantar fasciitis. Anatomically designed shoes like men’s wooden clogs have sufficient toe spring that doesn’t compromise with the aesthetics of these shoes.

• The last shape should complement the arch of the wearers’ feet. While some men are flatfooted, some have a prominent arch and some men have neutral feet which are considered ideal. Men’s wooden clogs have an orthopedically correct footbed carved out of alder wood for optimum arch support for all feet types in men.

My Latest Purchase: Wooden Clogs

Women love sales. Reason? Sales are amazing. They mean loads of goodies from our favorite brands at almost half the price (sometimes even less than that!). But it is important to act like a smart shopper and pick up only those clothes that we will actually end up wearing. The same logic applies for shoes.

I recently bought a pair of wooden clogs that were on sale online and am glad I bought them. I wanted a good pair of comfortable shoes to wear to work. My previous work shoes were not very practical as they were a bit uncomfortable and gave me calluses and sore toes whenever I had some field work.

It was not easy picking one from among so many great options. There were quite a large number of
wooden clogs for sale online. I set my heart on a pair of black strappy clogs. Very reasonably priced, the product exceeded my expectations when I wore them for the first time. Even on the most hectic days, when I have to be on my feet all day, these wooden clogs were easy on the feet and did not cause any discomfort at the end of the day. There has also been a fall in the occurrence of the lower back strain that used to be quite frequent until I started wearing clogs.

The wooden bottom of the clogs have medium height and have an arch that complements the arch of
my feet. The sole is skid- resistant as it is made of polyurethane. The leather uppers are nailed to the
wooden footbed and is sure to last for a long time. There were wooden clogs for sale which had suede uppers.

The height of the heel is neither too high, nor too low which makes these wooden clogs a great option for daily wear. The footbed has been designed, keeping in mind the orthopedic requirements for footwear. It is for this reason that these sandals are great for the feet and are effective in eliminating
any discomfort associated with wearing the wrong pair of shoes.

I recommend buying your first pair of clogs soon, while the sale is on and while the retailers are still stocked with these beauties.

Clog Sandals- Addressing All Your Footwear Needs

Bored of your old shoes? Tired of wearing those same old shoes for work that are neither comfortable, nor good looking? You might be looking for cool shoes for the fast approaching summers or might be casually browsing for shoes to revamp your winter wardrobe. Whatever be the reason, women love spending on shoes. It does happen quite a lot of time that the shoes which look so amazing on the store shelves or on your phone or laptop screen do not treat your feet that well. Some shoes give nasty shoe bites, while the others give a back ache by the end of the day. So what do we do- Invest in a pair of good footwear, like clog sandals for women and forget shoe bites and back aches.

Clogs are basically shoes/sandals that are partially (or sometimes completely) made of wood. They were originally made in Sweden, about a hundred years ago. Back then, they were worn as protective
accessories for the feet by both men and women who went to work in fields and factories. Today, clogs mean a lot more than that. For some, they may be a fashion statement, while for some, they may be a way to solve posture issues. Yes! They can do that.

A medium heighted heel made of wood which may be varnished or be left unvarnished, along with a slip-proof synthetic sole are one of the striking features of clog sandals for women. Talking about the
technical details, some clog-makers make clogs that have an orthopedically correct instep that improve posture and support both the scaphoid and the metatarsal arch, which lies right below our big toe. They also have a practical design that does not squeeze our toes into a tiny space; there is ample space for the toes in clogs. The leather uppers in the closed clogs are made of good quality leather which is breathable and wet lasted to make the fit perfect.

Clog sandals for women are functional footwear for regular use and can also be worn on those special occasions. They come in a variety of classic styles and are available for men as well. There are
completely closed clogs that are snug and are suitable for winters as they can protect our feet during the harsh winter months. Some clog sandals for women are more suitable for the summers as they have straps and are more open and breezy.

Impeccable craftsmanship and infallible design define these clog sandals for women. If you don’t own a pair yet, maybe it is time to get your hands on these amazing sandals.

Wooden Clog as an 18th Century Overshoe

If you ever get an opportunity to visit a living history museum like Colonial Williamsburg, you will get to know the 18th Century American City. Besides the buildings from the colonial era, you can also get an insight of how women interpreted fashion at that time. This blog is about one such fashion trend which became an inspiration for the new age fashionistas. The streets of London back in 18th century witnessed the most elegant shoe fashion in the American history. The curved heels and the toe-end embellished with beautiful silk lace were every woman’s pride and a symbol of status in the society.

The shoes which are sitting in the history museums are actually not the ones which mingled with dust of the streets of London but were worn by the ladies with - in their wooden bungalows and cottages. American women were so cautious of their shoe that they sought out various ways to protect the sole (even for the few steps – from door to carriage) and this is how the sole savior overshoe came into existence.

Now comes the interesting part – the modern interpretation of this overshoe has topped the fashion bandwagon of modern America, clog sandals for women. The present day version of overshoe is indeed much lighter, appealing and yes, comfortable.

This overshoe was crafted with special wood and was embellished using the similar fabric and lace that was used in the shoe. However it covered nothing more than the sole and the toe-end part of the shoe. These could also be considered as an older version of wedge heels that proffered an extra arch support for comfortable steps.

American women used to order the wooden clogs or overshoe for every new shoe they owned and for each order, the fabric or other embellishment augmented the shoe. Later on, these clogs were designed to cover the whole shoe for protection on rainy days. The later version of wooden clogs provided an extra cushion, snugness and arch support to women’s feet.
